A nurturing preschool in the Nokomis area of Minneapolis for children ages 3-5
Inspired by Waldorf and LifeWays philosophies, Willow House is dedicated to nurturing the young child as he or she takes that first step toward school. A daily rhythm of outdoor play, circle, rest, snack, creative play/crafts and story-telling preserve childhood while helping ready your child for later academic success. We also hold four seasonal festivals which include the families, and optional parent gatherings to nurture the adults, too!
Willow House is located in a house (used only for the preschool) just blocks from Lake Nokomis in South Minneapolis. The home-like setting creates a gentle transition from home to school, and the proximity to the lake creates wonderful opportunities for enjoying nature and the great outdoors. At Willow House we play outside in all but the most extreme weather, honoring nature and the children's connection to it.
Children are open to the world around them and whatever their senses take in becomes a part of them. They are imitators of all they see and hear. At Willow House, the teachers strive to be worthy of imitation in their interactions with the children, with each other, and with the environment. If children see adults happy in their work, it gives them something to look forward to as they grow older.
